BEST ALL ROUND EXOTIC CAR: 2012+ Ferrari 458 Italia/Spider
The Ferrari is arguably not the prettiest nor the most aggressive looking super car currently on the market. However, if you have driven as many of the them as I have, you will quickly realize that the drive ability of this car is absolutely second to none. The 458 is the only true exotic that could be driven daily with only limited inconvenience from the limited seating and anemic trunk. Further piece of mind comes from the all inclusive 6 years of Ferrari warranty and service that is a first for the industry.
BEST LOOKING EXOTIC CAR: Lamborghini Aventador
Other than a few low production exotics, nothing makes a young boys heart race faster than a Lamborghini. The Countache poster from the 80’s was probably the most sold piece of art in the suburbs of North American cities. The Aventador continues the aggressive lines and disregard for all function in lieu of fashion that continues to make them the sexiest exotic car on the road. The cockpit of the Aventador continues the motif of sharp angles and over the top styling with absolutely no place to put even the smallest cellphone or even a folded up piece of paper.
HONORABLE MENTION: Porsche 911 (any year except 2000-2005)
People tend to not relate the Porsche 911 to an exotic car, and I agree. However, the 911 deserves honorable mention when ever great sports cars are being discussed for many reasons. The first and foremost is the cost of ownership to own such an iconic car. My first real sports car was the 911 and although I drove the car daily, with regular maintenance the actual cost of ownership over 4 years was just over $250 per month.
